Lee has studied drums with Jim Blackley, Freddie Gruber, Claude Ranger and the great Gary Chester. Lee has also studied snare drum with Bob Becker. He has played rock, funk, jazz, big band, and Latin. Lee has played with D.J. Jones who has played with the James Brown Band, and also with Mike McKenna from Main Line, one of Canada’s great blues bands.
Lee has played in many R&B bands and top show bands across the United States and Canada and also played in the Las Vegas circuit. He currently continues to teach, offer clinics, and play professionally as a freelance musician.
Lee uses teaching concepts that free oneself up as a musician including: tension-free drumming; independence for jazz, rock, funk and Latin music; creating ways to expand vocabulary and avoid ruts; creating more efficient and effective learning skills; creating stronger reading and interpreting skills; creating ways to expand stylistic versatility; and creating a stronger pulse and deeper pocket. All of these systems help the drum student become better at interpreting music on the drums and become a better musician.
